James Franco's Performance in the Harvey Milk DVD

While Sean Penn is truly deserved of the accolades he received for his performance in the Milk DVD, it is also fair to point out that the supporting cast in the film also is worthy of mention. In particular, James Franco is quite good in the role of Milk’s partner. It should not be much of a surprise that Franco delivers an excellent performance. He has generally be quite good in his appearances in films and television programs outside of the Harvey Milk DVD. In particular, he added a great deal of screen menace as Harry in the Spiderman films and his performance in the old television series Freaks and Geeks was excellent. In the Milk DVD, we get to see a different dramatic performance from Franco that we would not commonly see in his other roles. From this performance, we can view his true range of skills and they make watching the Harvey Milk DVD even more engaging.

Supporting actor roles are sometimes overlooked by people that would prefer to center their attention on the main lead. However, support roles can often improve the quality of a film. This is clearly evidenced by the excellent work of James Franco in the Milk DVD.
