Seven Pounds DVD Review
Seven Pounds DVD is a new Will Smith movie that offers a whole menu of food for thought. As Tim Thomas, Will Smith sets in motion a pay back plan, driven by guilt, that he believes will bring relief from pain, not only to himself but to seven living people as well.
Start and finish of the movie involve a 911 phone call following a fatal car crash that kills seven people, including his fiancée. The bulk of the movie is the aftermath of the crash and the prelude to the final moments of Tim Thomas, who decides to commit suicide. Unlike the typical selfish act, however, Tim decides he will atone for the seven deaths by making life changing contributions to seven deserving people before he checks out for the last time.
Over the next few years, Tim Thomas slowly disperses critical body parts to the candidates he has researched. First, a lung, then a kidney, and so on until it is time for his final donations. He again falls in love, with his final recipient. Leaving directions for his post suicide donations, he uses a pet jellyfish and a tub of ice water to facilitate his exit from guilt.
